ArmorGalv® Brand of Sherardizing uses Thermal Diffusion Technology
ArmorGalv® Zinc thermal diffusion coating is a new in-plant batch coating process that was invented in England in 1903 and improved in Israel in 1993, resulting in world wide patents being granted. ArmorGalv® is suitable for manufacturers with coating needs for any size metal items made of steel, stainless steel, forging or powdered metal, who desire to minimize cost and environmental impact without sacrificing performance. The ArmorGalv® zinc/iron alloy coating process is environmentally friendly, thus eliminating the high cost of compliance with EPA regulations. ArmorGalv® thermal diffusion is superior in corrosion resistance to other commonly used methods and creates a non-toxic, smooth and hard surface. Salt-spray tests continually show that a corrosion resistance of over 1,500 hours on many different steel and cast iron parts is easily obtainable.
ArmorGalv® thermal diffusion galvanizing is based upon loading metal parts to be coated along with the patented dry ArmorGalv® alloying zinc powder in a steel retort. The retort is then slowly rotated and heated to temperatures ranging from 680 to 875° F. The patented ArmorGalv® zinc powder first vaporizes and then coats the parts uniformly and all over with a highly corrosion resistant, hard (45-48 Rc), chip proof, weldable and paintable zinc/iron coating – regardless of shape or geometry
